Frequently Asked Questions

What are your hours of operations?                                               We are available to take your orders 24/7 via our website. Our hours of operation are Monday - Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (EST).  Customer Service is available to take telephone orders and answer questions during these hours.

Why did I receive a different gift basket from what I ordered?
In the rare instances when we are out of stock on a particular item in a gift basket, or the basket itself, we will replace that item with one of equal or greater value at no extra charge. Plus, our inventory selection is constantly changing as we find new and interesting merchandise.

I expected my basket to be larger. Why isn't it?                                                       The value of the basket is based on the contents in the basket and not on the actual basket size. We use high-end bath and body lotions in our pamper gift baskets, so a gourmet food basket of the same price might be larger. Each basket contains different gift items, some more expensive than others, so it is not possible to compare one basket to another. The pictures on our website are an accurate depiction of what the gift baskets look like.

Can I specify a gift card message?
Yes, during the checkout process, you will be prompted to write your gift message in an area called "text/message on gift card"

If I place an order, how will my baskets be shipped?
Gift Baskets are shipped ground via UPS or FedEx. Orders must be placed by 12:00pm eastern standard time to ship within 24 hours. Orders are filled on a first come, first serve basis. We may be filling many orders ahead of yours. Most baskets reach the recipient within 6 business days. Please note that Saturday and Sunday are not considered delivery days.

Do you have a return policy?                                                          We will replace all damaged goods so long as the customer notifies us in a timely manner and keeps the damaged goods for the UPS and FedEx call tag. Personalized items that are not damaged can not be returned.

Will I know my shipping charges before I place an order?
Shipping rates vary by gift basket, and are based on weight and the recipient's zip code. You will be given the cost of all gift baskets while you are shopping on our website and before you check out. For questions, please contact customer service at customerservice@abasketfulofgifts.com

Where do you ship?
We ship throughout the United States.  Please visit our delivery information page for more shipping information and ship times.

How long will it take for my order to leave your facility?
Orders can take up to 48 hours to leave our design studios. However these instances are very rare and you will be notified if there is a problem. ** Allow extra delivery time for Fruit Baskets. The fruit is perishable and we do not keep it on site. We order the fruit from our vendor when we receive an order, and it is then delivered to the recipient within 3-4 days .

Can I ship my basket anywhere?
Almost anywhere, we cannot ship to PO Boxes, APO - FPO Boxes or foreign addresses. We can ship to our friends in Hawaii and Alaska but, please add $30 to the listed shipping price and allow three additional days for delivery.

Why do you need my recipient's phone number?
UPS / FedEx must have the recipient's phone number because it may be necessary to contact the recipient by telephone to complete delivery. We will not contact your gift recipients via phone unless we are having problems with delivery.

Will I be charged for the redelivery of gift baskets?
Redelivery charges will apply to orders requiring reshipment due to incorrect delivery information. Delivery services will not forward to another address.      

What forms of payment does your business accept?
We accept MasterCard, Visa, American Express & Discover.  

Do you collect sales tax?
State law requires us to collect 6% Connecticut sales tax.

How long will the gourmet foods in my gift basket stay fresh?                       
Unless specified on package - Candy: 6-12 months; Cocoa: 24 months; Cheese: 12 months; Chips & Snacks: 4-6 months; Chocolates: 6-12 months; Cider: 24 months; Coffee: 9-12 months; Crackers: 9 months; Nuts - 6-8 months; Popcorn: 6-12 months; Pretzels: 4 months, Sausage: 7 months (minimum); Seafood: 12-60 months; Tea: 12-48 months

How do you ship and deliver the perishable fruit baskets?                Our fruit is shipped daily, direct from the grove - one of the country's best - located in Oregon's Hood Valley. Because fruit is perishable, we don't keep it at our facility. Please allow 3 business days for Fruit Basket delivery.

Do the gift baskets containing chocolates need refrigeration?
UPS & FedEx don't refrigerate gift baskets that contain chocolate inside. It is possible that the chocolates inside your gift baskets could melt during delivery in a hot climate. Therefore, we do not ship chocolates between May 1st and September 30th. From October 1st through April 30th, if an order is placed at the end of the week, and delivery is expected to take a few days, we will hold the order over until Monday so that the chocolates are not sitting at UPS or FedEx over the weekend. If we are experiencing unusually hot weather during the months of October through April, we will hold off on chocolate shipments for several days until the weather returns to a more seasonable temperature. 

What if the recipient is not home?                                                  The delivery person will leave the package in a safe and visible location if it is a single or multi family home with it's own entrance. If it is delivered to a large apartment or condo complex that does not have individual entrances, and the recipient is not home, the delivery person will not leave the gift basket. We will contact the recipient to make delivery arrangements when they are home. Redelivery charges will apply after the 2nd delivery attempt.

Hospital Deliveries
We do not deliver to hospitals. We have found in many instances that the patient is discharged before the basket has arrived. We recommend sending the basket to the recipient's home address.
